Willow Creek is a small working farm nestled in the rolling hills of rural northwestern Illinois just 45 miles southeast of historic, haunted Galena. Considered by paranormal investigators and others to be one of the most haunted private residences in the state, it is also a place where very personal interaction with the spirits can occur even over long distances. The farm has been open for a decade to the general public for visits including overnight and weekend stays at no charge!
Over one hundred investigations including reports by mediums and other visitors have resulted in the following claims: very loud bangs, footsteps, knocking, Indian drumming,
children crying or singing, people talking, dogs barking, smelling floral, tobacco and other scents, hot and cold spots, being touched, punched, hugged, choked, shoved, finding objects moved and, seeing apparitions and shadow figures.
A Haunting Unlike any Other!
For most known haunted locations the activity is limited to a single structure but the entire farm is haunted. Guests have reported supernatural occurrences not only in the house and the outbuildings but also outside on the land. Multiple mediums claim that there are 7-8 regular spirits in the house with up to 30 passing through at any given time, also multiple spirits in the out buildings and many Native American spirits in the field and pasture. About 6-8 months before the current owner bought the farm, a woman residing in Atlanta contacted him through social media. After his purchase, Susan disclosed that she was a medium and described details about the house that only a visitor to the farm could have known. According to Susan there was a young woman named Sarah who was 32-35 when she died and her two daughters, 4-year old Lily and 10-year old Mary. This in itself is not unusual but Susan and later over a dozen other mediums reported that they are the owner’s wife and daughters all of whom shared a life together as a family in the early 19th C. EVPs and physical manifestations support this claim of a love that transcends physical dimensions and time. That’s not all. Since 2006, the farm has gradually evolved from being a very dark, threatening and even evil place to one that is at peace, full of light and positive energy. It is still a very active location but visitors familiar with the farm from its earliest days to now often refer to Willow Creek as a place for spiritual awakening and enlightenment. The question remains, what caused this change?
